Recognize v4.0

This week marks the launch of the latest version of Recognize which is jam packed full of brand new features. We have been very busy recently working on our music recognition app and we are all very excited to show you what we have been up to.

We have made some very big under the hood upgrades which will massively increase performance and reliability. Unfortunately because these changes are so monumental older versions of our app will soon expire. Don’t worry though, all you have to do is visit the App Store and upgrade to the latest version of Recognize and everything will be working as you’d expected it to work. Those of you who have purchased to remove adverts will need to restore their purchases under the settings panel (free of charge; apologies for the inconvenience). You will also be rewarded with many cool new features which we will discuss below.

The uptake of the new iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus has been staggering, with Apple announcing record sales of their flagship device just yesterday. Those of you using Recognize on their brand new shiny devices will be pleased that v4.0 introduces support for these new screen sizes and our app looks better than ever.

Last September Apple released iOS 8 to the public which introduced many new features and stability upgrades to iOS 7. Initially we held off updating Recognize as uptake wasn’t as quick as previous iOS versions and we wanted to make sure we supported as many of our users as possible. Since then uptake of iOS 8 has reached nearly 90% of our users so we have now compiled Recognize with iOS 8. This means the app will be more stable and should run more efficiently.

We have spent some time redesigning Recognize as we thought it was time for a bit of a refresh. You will now notice a new animation when pressing the mic button on the home page. A waveform of the song that you are attempting to identify will now be created while you wait for your results to come back, check it out its very cool. We have also tweak a few other design elements and we plan to continue to do so!

As you can see we packed in a lot cool stuff into this update and we hope you enjoy using our app.

  1. Can you tell me what to do to make Recognize listen to music? At present, there is no button or icon I can find to activate recognition. Thanks.

    • Hi Oz,

After you have logged into the app you can begin identifying music by pressing the little mic button in the top right hand corner.
